Recent Research On Fight Against Obesity

In a research done on mice, researchers discovered an unrecognised communication link that enables fat to interact with the brain directly.

By disrupting this communication link, the mice increased their fat burning rate.

This communication link requires more investigation, but one day this might be used to treat obesity in people.

The brain employs neurons in the sympathetic nervous system to instruct the body to burn more fat.

Until recently, scientists thought that the opposite transmission (from fat to brain) took a more indirect route,

with fat communicating with the brain through secreting hormones into the circulation.

According to a recent research, fat also communicates with the brain directly through sensory nerve cells known as "dorsal root ganglia".
